       Naturally talented, managing life's challenges

Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in how human brains function and process information. It is a concept that embraces differences in thinking, learning, and behaviour as part of human diversity, rather than viewing them as deficits or disorders. Individuals who are neurodivergent may have conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or other neurological variations. By promoting acceptance and inclusion, neurodiversity challenges traditional perspectives, encouraging society to recognise the unique strengths and talents that each individual brings. Supporting neurodiversity is not just about accommodation but about creating environments where everyone can thrive.

Angel has extensive experience supporting both adults and young people with different neurodiverse needs and challenges, and has found clients are able to flourish and move through difficulties in an empowered manner.

Improve self esteem and the way you handle difficulties

Adolescence

Adolescence can be a challenging time, filled with emotional, social and physical changes that may feel overwhelming. Counselling can offer young people a safe and supportive environment to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Whether they are dealing with stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship concerns or other personal struggles, therapy helps adolescents gain a clearer understanding of themselves and develop healthy coping strategies. With the guidance of a professional counsellor, adolescents can build resilience, improve communication skills and navigate this formative stage of life with confidence. Seeking support during this time is not a sign of weakness—it is a proactive step towards personal growth and emotional wellbeing. Liking ourselves is one of the most important parts of a happy life.

Express ourselves and feel valued

Counselling children and young people

Counselling with play is a therapeutic approach that uses the natural medium of play to help individuals, particularly children, express their emotions, navigate challenges, and develop coping mechanisms. This method recognises that play is a child’s most comfortable way of communicating, making it easier for them to explore feelings and situations they may struggle to articulate in words. Guided by trained professionals, play in the counselling room creates a safe and supportive opportunity for children and young people to process their experiences, build confidence, and develop emotional resilience. While primarily aimed at children, this approach can also be adapted for adults, offering an innovative way to access and address deep-rooted feelings. Whether dealing with anxiety, trauma, behavioural difficulties, or social challenges, counselling through play serves as a powerful tool for healing and personal growth.

Inclusive counselling using games and crafts

Incorporating games into counselling sessions can be an effective and engaging way to support emotional growth, communication, and problem-solving skills. Games and crafts provide a relaxed and non-threatening environment, allowing clients to explore their thoughts and feelings more openly. For children and adolescents, playing games can make the therapeutic process feel less formal, fostering trust and collaboration with the counsellor. Even for adults, structured activities or games can help break down barriers, encourage self-reflection, and promote interactive learning. Whether it’s board games, role-playing scenarios, or creative activities, the use of games in counselling can be tailored to suit individual needs and goals, making it a versatile tool for personal development and healing.
